Today's Verse of the Day

Romans 13:13-14: Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. (NASB)

Are you doubting Jesus and your faith because of sickness?

Are you struggling with ongoing health challenges and just don't understand where Jesus is in your circumstances? Is your faith being destroyed because Jesus hasn't healed you miraculously?

Colossians 4:14 is a very important verse in scripture when it comes to dealing with ongoing health challenges accompanied with a faith crisis. It reads:

Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas greet you. (WEB)

This Bible verse confirms Luke, who was a companion of Jesus, was a doctor. Jesus was not ashamed to have fellowship with a doctor. In addition to this Luke's words are given authority as he provides us with two very important books of the Bible: We rely on Luke for an account of Jesus' life, with the focus on Jesus being the Son of Man and the historical account of the formation of the first century church in the book of Acts.

The gospels record Jesus' words which we base our faith and lives around. Accompanied with Colossians 4:14 Jesus very own words in Luke 5:31 are also very important when facing serious health challenges. Without mocking divine healing Jesus Himself said:

Jesus answered them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.” (WEB)

A Christian should not be feeling guilt for consulting a health care professional while praying for the Lord's hand and intervention in the situation. The Lord will use the hands and minds of the medical community as an extension of His very own when these resources are sought out. The sincere prayers of a believer will empower the doctors to treat the medical condition effectively.

Our faith is matured in trusting Jesus with the unseen results, knowing that even during difficult times, He is still with us. When our own energy fails He caries us. When we need comfort He sends the Holy Spirit to comfort us. Although failed health and prolonged sickness isn't a mountain top experience Jesus is willing to walk through the storms of life with us as His precious child.
