Today's Verse of the Day

Philippians 2:1-2: If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. (NASB)

God's Word On Fear

When struggling with and encountering fear remember Jesus' promise of Isaiah 41:10

    Do not fear, for I am with you;
    Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
    I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
    Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. (NASB)

Commit this verse to memory along with others that speak of the confidence of putting your trust and hope in Jesus as well as seeing Him as your source.

We may be comforted with the words of Jesus found in Matthew 28:20 just before He returned to Heaven:

    . . . and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of age. (NASB)

This is the promise that Jesus is with you in a real way through the closeness of the Holy Spirit. During times of fear pray. Call on the name of the Lord to be a comforter to you. And then stand on the promise and assurance of your salvation that is found in Jesus.

We are loved as we are and welcomed by God to come and place our burdens on Him. In dealing with your fear come back to Jesus and commit your life to Him and place your burdens in His hands. You do this through prayer with each issue you are facing:

    "Jesus in your word you promised to be my source and you took my burdens when you went to the cross. Now Jesus I have come to let my life go that I may be found in you. I acknowledge the gift of life that you have given me. Jesus I commit the issue of ____________________ into your hands. I pray for your wisdom, insight and grace to handle the situation. Lord I pray for your help to respond as a child of God. In your grace I stand. You sent your Spirit to be a comfort unto me. I pray for this. I repent for a lack of trust in you. In my heart I pray you would be found as Lord. Search me, God, I pray, that any issues that are in my life that are not pleasing to you may be uprooted and removed from my life. Thank you for the gift of salvation, the joy and confident assurance of being your child. In Jesus name I pray, Amen."

Remembering Jesus as the source in your life will bring a solid foundation and stability that no other source may. Just as Jesus said to Peter that He would build the church on Peter as a solid rock Jesus will be your solid rock in the storms of life. A solid commitment to prayer and study of the word will keep you going strong in the Lord through the storms of life. The intimacy with Jesus will increase as well as peace that comes from the Holy Spirit. The peace that comes from the Holy Spirit is knowing that you are a child of God, you are taken care of and your life is in His hands.
