Soaring With The Eagles
Tuesday October 16th, 2007

Isaiah 40:31 "Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary." (NASB)

I want to invite you to the place of peace found only in our Lord Jesus Christ. It's away from cell phones, pages, voice mail and e-mail. We see it reflected perfectly in Jesus' life. What was Jesus doing that we need to build into our days? The first glimpse of what I am describing is found in Luke 2:49. Joseph and Mary had gone to register for the censes. Jesus remained behind. Perfectly Jesus described where He had been and where we would expect to find Him:

And He [Jesus] said to them, "Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father's house?" (NASB)

He found what His heart yearned for --- the peace, comfort and assurance that comes from spending time with His Heavenly Father. This is where I am inviting you to press forward into today.

As we read through the four gospels of Jesus' life we continually read that He has gone off to pray. Life is too busy not to pray. Life has too many curve balls not to have spent time with Jesus so we would know the will of our Heavenly Father. You were created for a purpose. You were not a hazard at the time of your birth.

God is continually drawing us closer. When Lazarus walked out of the grave after Jesus had raised him from the dead he was still wearing the grave clothes. Lazarus was alive, but need to let his grave clothes go. I would challenge you with the same thing. There is coming a time when for you to move forward in your walk with the Lord it is going to take you loosening off more of your old self as well as a knowledge and an understanding of the written Word of God.

The place I am inviting you to is a place of acceptance, where it is safe to be you. You may still want your friends know you are struggling, but the peace of God and His grace will walk you through your struggles and the place of rest He has prepared for you.

Lord we ask for more of you in our lives. May our hearts be surrendered so your plans for our lives will prevail. May we have ears to know what you are saying and a desire to follow where you lead Lord. Amen
